National WWII Glider Pilots Committee

The 50th National WWII Glider Pilots Reunion has taken place last month, from October 6 through October 8 hosted by the “Silent Wings Museum”, Lubbock (Texas). Two veterans were present and the families of others that have taken their last flight were too. The “WWII U. S. Glider Pilots Memorial Award” has been given to a french historian : Jean Michel Soldi. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about the Waco CG-4A glider and about the Dragoon operation August 15th, 1944. He was attending the reunion with his wife Corinne and it seems like they’ve had a great time there !

On my side, I want to deeply thank Mike Larkin, son of the WW2 glider pilot Jim Larkin for his words : it gives me even more strength to overcome my disease. I also want to thank Jean-Michel Soldi who brought back and framed the souvenir that was made for me. Hello to the members of the National World War 2 Glider Pilots Committee and the Silent Wings Museum’s crew : hope to see you guys next year !!!

Jim Larkin and Jack Merrick were in the same Troop Carrier Group and close friends during and after the war. Families continue to perpetuate this friendship.
